A generation of country music fans might call Lance Smith the "face of CMT". A Nashville native, Smith spent his early adulthood pursuing an acting career. However, in early 2000 a unique job opportunity on one of the highest grossing music tours in the country showed Lance another side of the entertainment business that ended up being the right fit. As an emcee of the Dixie Chicks’ Fly tour, Lance performed in front of an average of 15,000 people a night, for 92 shows. The experience caught the attention of executives at VIACOM and CMT, eventually making Lance Smith a household name with the country music audience.
Ten years later, with over a thousand shows hosted and hundreds of celebrities interviewed, Lance parted ways with CMT to expand his talents into new venues. After hosting the first season of the Weather Channel's Weathering Disaster, Lance would eventually find a home in Orlando, Florida as an anchor on the nationally syndicated morning show The Daily Buzz. There, Lance was given the freedom to find his voice in the show's irreverent bent. He wrote and produced a number of highly praised editorial commentaries and discovered his passion for working behind the camera.
After a fifteen year television hosting career including a few big screen roles, Lance isn't pinned down to just one title. Host, producer, writer... "as long as it's fun" is the motto. He's currently working on a few different productions as well as the follow-up to his children's book, The Old Man and the Cat, which was featured on Good Morning America during an interview with show anchor, Robin Roberts.
If he's not on camera or lecturing to a group of students, he'll usually be found on his motorcycle following the twists and turns of any one of Florida's backroads.
In the fall/winter of 2015, be on the look out for Lance at any of the Tennessee Titans home games. You'll find Lance live on the jumbo-tron, broadcasting highlights from around the league to a stadium of 60,000+ fans.
